In addition to the upgrade of the log4j library (see https://www.squashtest.com/post/announcements-fixes-around-the-apache-log4j-library?lang=en), another security issue has been fixed: the credentials of the user launching some automated tests in Squash TM could be sniffed in network packets. It is strongly advised, in particular in the case of an Orchestrator deployment using HTTP instead of HTTPS, to upgrade Squash TM and Squash AUTOM to the latest versions: 1.22.9, 2.2.0, or 3.0.2. Please note that Squash TM, the Result Publisher Plugin, and the AUTOM Plugin must be upgraded at the same time, otherwise Squash AUTOM will not work.
The 2021-12 release completes the support of Cucumber (https://cucumber.io/):
· it is now possible to run Cucumber 6 or 7 tests
· the execution of Cucumber 5 does not generate anymore obsolescence warning messages
In order to execute automated tests with Cucumber 5 or later, these ones shall be declared in Squash TM 3.0 with the "Cucumber 5+" technology (see https://autom-devops-en.doc.squashtest.com/latest/autom/techno/cucumber.html). For Squash DEVOPS, a new action "cucumber5/cucumber" is available (see https://opentestfactory.gitlab.io/orchestrator/providers/cucumber/).
The orchestrator tools have been enhanced. "opentf-ctl" can now be used to generate or modify a configuration file, it can list the agents, error reporting has been improved… The complete list of enhancements can be found in the release notes (https://autom-devops-en.doc.squashtest.com/2021-12/release-note/orchestrator-tools/orchestrator-tools-0.29.2.html).
As a reminder, new versions of Squash AUTOM and DEVOPS are released monthly (except in August). The 2022-01 version will be a maintenance issue with minor improvements. The 2022-02 version will add the support of Katalon and the possibility to use the Orchestrator as a simple quality gate in a CI/CD pipeline.
